Graduate of Northwestern University’s Honors six year medical program and Stanford University Medical Center’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency. He is board certified in PM&R and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. His expertise includes spine, sports, cumulative trauma, neurological disorders, and pain management. He founded and directed sequoia Hospital’s Occupational Health Department and Rehabilitation Unit. Dr. Sontag is a team spinal pain consultant for the Oakland Raiders, San Jose Sharks, San Jose Earthquakes and Menlo College Athletic Department. He was the San Francisco 49er’s Team Physiatrist for the 1990/91 season and Team Physiatrist for the San Francisco Giants 1995 to 2002. He is president and founder of SPARCmed ( Spine, Pain , Arthritis and Rehabilitation Care) and Remedy Medical Group located in Redwood City, CA.
